C919, China#39;s self-developed large passenger aircraft developed by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China , completed its inaugural commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing on Sunday, creating a milestone in China#39;s aviation industry, which aims to compete with global players such as Boeing.

The C919#39;s inaugural flight departed at 10:32 am from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 12:31 pm, where it was welcomed with a special water-salute ceremony.

The highly anticipated flight, codenamed MU9191, was flown by China Eastern Airlines, and carried around 130 passengers.

With between 158 and 168 seats, and a flight range of 4,075 to 5,555 kilometers, the C919 is designed to have the same level of specifications as the popular Airbus 320 and Boeing 737.

Both the business and economy class on the C919 use a new generation of domestically designed and produced cabin seats. Among them, eight business class seats use an all-aluminum alloy frame structure with a cradle design and a backrest that can reach 120 degrees.

To bring passengers more comfort, the distance between the front and rear seats exceeds 1 meter, and the middle seat in the economy class triple seat is 1.5cm wider than the two seats on the end.

According to China Eastern Airlines#39; plan, the first C919 plane will initially be operated between Shanghai and Chengdu, capital city of Southwest China#39;s Sichuan Province, before flying more routes.The flight, MU9197, was scheduled to take off Monday morning and the 919 yuan tickets have sold out within the first hour of sale started on Friday evening on all ticketing platforms.

China Eastern has also set up special teams including cabin services to ensure security and guarantee services. The airline will introduce the first five C919 this year with more to follow, the Shanghai-based carrier said.

The C919 project was launched in 2007 and completed its first test flight in 2017. On September 29, 2022, it obtained the Type Certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the country#39;s aviation sector regulator.

COMAC received an order for 60 C919 planes from HNA Group last month and the Shanghai-based plane maker received orders for 300 C919s from seven leasing firms in November.

国产大型客机C919全球首次商业载客飞行成功，这也标志着C919的“研发、制造、取证、投运”全面贯通，中国民航商业运营国产大飞机正式“起步”，今后广大旅客出行可以选择乘坐国产大飞机了！

客舱高度2.5米，整体看起来宽敞明亮。C919的客舱照明灯光也和许多最新一代的主流飞机一样，有多达10种不同颜色的情景模式。下拉式行李舱也是特色之一，旅客能有更多的顶部和前方视觉空间。

飞机公务舱、经济舱均选用完全自主研发的新一代国产客舱座椅。其中，8个公务舱座椅为全铝合金框架结构，采用摇篮式设计，后靠可达120度、前后座椅间距超过1米；156个经济舱设计采用3-3布局，中间座位比两边座位宽1.5厘米；加上C919客舱拥有2.25米的过道高度，旅客能感受到舒适的顶部和前方视觉空间。

C919的驾驶舱里面也充满“黑科技”，5块15.4英寸高清显示屏能给飞行员提供更简洁、现代的人机交互，降低飞行员的工作负荷。此外，相比传统飞机机头由正面两块、侧面四块，共六块风挡玻璃组成，C919只用了四块大面积双曲风挡玻璃，这样可为飞行员提供更为广阔的视野，同时也能让飞机减少阻力，更省油。

据了解，5月28日之后由C919飞机执飞的航班也陆续进入东航的销售系统，执飞上海到成都等的航线。未来东航计划围绕“四梁八柱”航线网络，将C919投入上海、北京、西安、昆明、广州、成都、深圳等地的优质精品航线，旅客可以在这些航线率先体验国产大飞机。

5月26日晚间，C919上海—成都航线机票在各大平台开售，作为C919首个全面开售的商业航班，航线为上海虹桥—成都天府，价格为919元。该航班时间为5月29日上午，航班号为MU9197的航班从上海虹桥飞往成都天府机场，计划飞行时长3小时10分。机票上线不到一个小时，各平台919元的C919机票已经售罄。

根据中国东航的年报，2023年东航将接收4架C919飞机。除了东航，今年4月底，海航航空集团也与中国商飞公司在上海签署了百架飞机采购协议，其中包括60架C919飞机确认订单和40架ARJ21飞机意向订单。

此外，在去年11月的珠海航展上，中国商飞与国银金租、工银金租、建信金租、交银金租、招银金租、浦银租赁和苏银金租7家飞机租赁公司签署了总共330架国产飞机的确认订单协议，其中也包括300架C919飞机和30架用于海外运营的ARJ21飞机。

国航日前也表示，公司与中国商飞在2010年就签署了20架C919飞机的购买协议，南航则表示，南航对C919飞机保持高度关注，与中国商飞保持密切的沟通，将按照相关程序，推进后续工作。

• Chinese taikonauts Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu, and Gui Haichao will carry out the Shenzhou-16 spaceflight mission, and Jing will be the commander, the China Manned Space Agency announced at a press conference on Monday. Jing will become the country#39;s first taikonaut to go into space for a fourth time. Zhu and Gui are going to make their first trip to space. They are members of China#39;s third batch of taikonauts, whose selection was completed by September 2020. The Shenzhou-16 crewed spaceship will be launched at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, said Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the CMSA.

  Meanwhile, Lin said China has recently initiated the lunar landing phase of its manned lunar exploration program. The overall goal is to achieve China#39;s first manned landing on the moon by 2030 and carry out lunar scientific exploration and related technological experiments. According to Lin, the goal also includes mastering the key technologies such as Earth-moon manned roundtrip, lunar surface short-term stay, human-robot joint exploration, accomplishing multiple tasks of landing, roving, sampling, researching and returning, and forming an independent capability of manned lunar exploration.

  同时，林西强介绍说，近期，中国载人月球探测工程登月阶段任务已启动实施，总的目标是:2030年前实现中国人首次登陆月球，开展月球科学考察及相关技术试验，突破掌握载人地月往返、月面短期驻留、人机联合探测等关键技术，完成“登、巡、采、研、回”等多重任务，形成独立自主的载人月球探测能力，将推动载人航天技术由近地走向深空的跨越式发展，深化人类对月球和太阳系起源与演化的认识，为月球科学的发展贡献中国智慧。

• The profits of China#39;s industrial companies with annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan fell 18.2 percent year-on-year in April, narrowing 1 percentage point from the reading in March, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Saturday. Combined revenues rose 3.7 percent, accelerating by 3.1 percentage points from the previous month. For the first four months, those companies#39; profits fell 20.6 percent on a yearly basis, which narrowed from a 21.4 percent decline in the first three months, according to the NBS.

  4月工业企业利润降幅继续收窄:27日国家统计局公布数据，4月份，工业生产继续恢复，企业营收增长加快，规模以上工业企业利润同比下降18.2%，降幅较3月份收窄1.0个百分点，连续两个月收窄。1至4月，全国规模以上工业企业实现利润总额20328.8亿元，同比下降20.6%。

• Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai have entered the top 10 ranking of the Global City Entrepreneurship Incubation Index released during a parallel forum of the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum yesterday. The index, which evaluates major cities based on incubation potential, performance and ecosystem, was released by the Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies as well as the School of Economics and Resource Management of Beijing Normal University. According to the index, New York, London, San Francisco, Beijing, Boston, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Chicago rank as the top ten. In China, Beijing, the Yangtze River Delta city cluster and the Greater Bay Area are the central areas for business incubation.

• Beijing and Guangdong are at the forefront of China#39;s research and development of large language models, as entities in the two regions have released a total of 28 and 20 LLMs, respectively, the Ministry of Science and Technology said in a report released yesterday. Most of China#39;s LLMs focus on the field of natural language processing, followed by multimodal AI and less common ones, such as computer vision and intelligent voice, according to the report.

• Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang unveiled a new batch of products and services tied to artificial intelligence, looking to capitalize ona frenzy that has made his company the world’s most valuable chipmaker. The wide-ranging lineup includes a new robotics system, gaming capabilities, advertising services and a networking technology. Huang took the wraps off an AI supercomputer platform called DGX GH200 that will help tech companies create successors to ChatGPT. Microsoft, Meta and Alphabet’s Google are expected to be among the first users.

• Chinese vaccine maker Sinovac Biotech has secured China’s regulatory approval to start clinical trials of its broad-spectrum neutralizing antibody to treat Covid-19. China’s National Medical Products Administration greenlit SA55 injection, co-developed by Sinovac and Changping Laboratory, for clinical trials on May 24, the firm announced today. The nasal spray of SA55 was approved for trials as prevention last month, it added.

• China UnionPay overtook the US’ Visa for the first time last year to claim its place as the world’s most popular debit card provider, according to the latest research. UnionPay seized 40.03 percent of the world’s debit card market in 2022, an increase of 1.39 percentage point, while Visa held 38.78 percent of the market, a dip of 0.82 percentage point, according to a recent report by US market research company Nielsen Holdings.

• Chinese stocks ended mixed on Monday, hovering near their lowest level for the year so far, after data showed profit at the country’s industrial firms slumped in the first four months of 2023. The benchmark Shanghai Composite rose 0.3 percent, while the Shenzhen Component shed 0.8 percent. Hong Kong stocks continued to fall, with three major indices hitting 6-month low. The benchmark Hang Seng index lost 1 percent and the TECH index dropped 1.2 percent.
